Welcome to the Website of the Live Oak Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess. Our local council serves central and south Texas, and is headquartered in Austin. The other parts of Texas are ably served by the Texas Local Council.

VISION/VALUES STATEMENT

We believe that all who desire knowledge and learning, in whatever form is meaningful to them, have the right to seek it.
We believe that communication and understanding among different pagan faiths and traditions creates a stronger, healthier spiritual Community.
We believe that sharing our beliefs and values with other faiths fosters mutual understanding, acceptance, and respect.
We believe that responsible stewardship of the planet is imperative for the good of all the inhabitants of the earth.
In affirmation of these shared beliefs, we recognize our responsibility to act upon them in our daily lives.

MISSION STATEMENT

Perform intrafaith work in the local community to encourage mutual respect and support between different pagan faiths and traditions.
Support the vision, mission and values of iACT, and remain active members of the interfaith community.
Provide training and clergy credentials to serious seekers.
Sponsor public rituals for the pagan community.
Provide speakers for community outreach.

Live Oak Local Council was conceived in April, 2002, and was officially hived from the supportive folks at the Texas Local Council on Beltane (May 2), 2003.

Live Oak Local Council is a member of Interfaith Action of Central Texas, having been voted in by the iACT board on June 17, 2004. We consider our membership in iACT to be one of the most important things we do; through it, we have shown the greater Austin faith community that Wiccans and Pagans are people of faith – just a different faith than they may be used to.

While our service area is not set in stone, you can look at this map that will give you a good idea of the geography we're responsible for (until another local council can be created in San Antonio!).

Live Oak Local Council uses the consensus process for our decision making. Consensus is a non-coercive way to make sure all decisions are accptable to everyone in the group.
